Escapes

2025.

Since the dawn of photography, prints—whether analog or digital—have been presented in square or rectangular formats, dictated by the technical constraints of cameras, film, or digital sensors. Yet the lenses through which these images are captured are circular, a form seemingly destined to produce round images. By revisiting this forgotten truth, my series Escapes explores this paradox, reconciling the circular nature of image capture with the final result, and inviting a reflection on the invisible frames that limit our visual perception.

These distant landscapes, captured at the farthest reaches of the globe, are fragments of almost inaccessible spaces, where silence reigns and humanity is scarce. The circular form, symbolizing eternal renewal, evokes the cyclical and infinite nature of our planet, while isolating each scene within a bubble of contemplation. Each print becomes a window onto unknown horizons, places where immensity blends with stillness, where time seems to stand still.

Escapes is an ode to the raw, untamed beauty of the Earth—an invitation to explore the unexplored and to lose oneself in the contours of a world on the margins.
