Biography
In his photographic practice spanning over 20 years, Vincent Bousserez explores both the untouched expanses of our planet and the playful shifts of scale and perspective, reminding us of a simple truth:
"We are infinitely small on the scale of the Universe, a mere snap of the fingers on the scale of Time — and we often forget it."
Self-taught and inspired by the surrealism of Gilbert Garcin and the strangely proportioned hyperrealistic figures of Ron Mueck, Vincent first gained recognition by pioneering a photographic movement now embraced by many artists around the world.
In his Plastic Life series, he stages small human figurines within everyday environments, delicately blending humor with social commentary.
Quickly moving beyond the confines of his studio, the artist ventured into the remote landscapes of the far North, inviting both himself and his viewers to lose themselves in these distant territories.
The geographies of these isolated spaces offer opportunities for unexpected plays of scale and disorienting perspectives, subtly reflecting a broader human condition:
the more we grow and expand, the more it costs the world around us.
Vincent Bousserez disrupts traditional notions of scale and crafts a strange, poetic testimony to the remaining wild territories of our planet, paying homage to nature and the fragile world that cradles us.
His work delves into the relationships and tensions between exploration, expansion, isolation, and destruction.

1973 Naissance à Paris
1984 Début de sa pratique des arts plastiques à l'Atelier de Fresne, où Vincent étudie pendant des années le dessin et la peinture
1994 Départ pour le Maroc, à Fès, où Vincent passe 16 mois, expérimentant la photographie avec une vieille cellule, un boitier Exakta RTL1000 et son 50 mm
1995 Premier solo show, "Du Maroc et d'ailleurs", peintures, dessins & photographies à l'Espace Broca, Paris
2001 Voyage initiatique de 14 mois à travers l'Asie en backpacking, où Vincent crée sa série photographique "Le Temps de l'Innocence" revisitée en 2020
2008 Première représentation par une galerie d'art contemporain, et première exposition de la série “Plastic Life” avec ses personnages minuscules, à la Galerie Hélène Bailly à Paris
2014 Nouvelle représentation par la galeriste Anne-Sarah Bénichou, galerie Sisso
2015 Entrée dans une Institution française, l'Institut du Monde Arabe, en exposant avec d'autres artistes sur le thème "Hip-hop, du Bronx aux rues arabes"

Nuit blanche
Sélectionné officiellement pour la Nuit Blanche 2020, Vincent a eu le plaisir d’exposer le 3 octobre 2020 une série photographique créée pour l’événement : SEMBLANCES.
À travers ses portraits en miroir d’un adulte et de son enfant, Vincent invite chacun à se questionner sur le lien et la transmission entre générations. Que reçoit-on de la génération précédente ? Qu’avons-nous d’inné, d’acquis ? Qu’y a-t-il d’inscrit dans nos gènes à la naissance ? Que développe-t-on ? Qu’est-ce qui n’appartient qu’à nous ? Et que transmettons-nous à notre tour ?
